Chraïbi Fatma, Author & Artist

  • Fatma Chraïbi is both an author and a painter.
  • A native of Marrakech, two children, two grandsons, Fatma Chraïbi has lived in Rabat for around thirty years. After university studies in France, Morocco and the United States, she worked first as a teacher at the Lalla Meryem girls' high school in Marrakech, at the French high school in Addis Ababa, then as a teacher, translator and interpreter in a language school in Oakland and San Francisco.
  • Returning to Morocco in 1973, she joined the Marketing and Export Office, OCE, where she headed the documentation, communication and publication division. She is an active member of various charitable and cultural associations. Passionate about reading and writing, in 2018 she published her first work, “In the gardens of yesteryear” published by Marsam.
  • In 2021, she wrote her first novel “Memories of a white slave, Mmi Bouja”, inspired by true facts, and pays tribute to all these wonderful women, slaves, concubines or simple servants who were an integral part of several Moroccan families. It is with the same publisher MEAN, Maison d’Édition Art Numérique, that Fatma Chraïbi presents to you here a collection of poems: “Poetic Expressions” illustrated with paintings and sculptures by Souad Sahel. “While writing these poems, I was far from thinking of making a collection or publishing them. For me, more than any other form of expression, poetry helps me to verbalize feelings and especially feelings experienced in the face of sad, shocking, incredible or other circumstances or events: death, poverty, injustice, hypocrisy... Sometimes also, through poetry, I manage to depict complex states of mind that I would have had difficulty expressing otherwise: love, fear, anger, revolt... Sometimes, it's quite simply my reaction, sometimes playful, sometimes profound, to beauty, to nature, to evolution, to joy, to laughter; a hymn to friendship, sharing, otherness and
    difference. ».
