Painter, born in Fez, Houbaba Iraqui is married, mother of three children and currently lives in Rabat. She attended the School of Fine Arts in Rabat (ARTEC) from 1982 to 1984. She then joined the students of Vietnamese Professor Ngo Guang Ngo, then American professors Diggs and Wexter, portrait specialists. Houbaba Iraqui uses oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor painting techniques. She has participated in several exhibitions in Morocco (Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Tangier and Agadir). She has also exhibited abroad where she received distinctions, notably in 1987 at the Baghdad Biennale and in 2015 in Cairo, in the group exhibition at the Mostra Internazionale d'Arte in the Vatican and in Buenos Aires. She has often represented Morocco alongside other Moroccan artists such as Chaïbia, Malika Agznay, Miloud Labied.
Caftans & Jewelry - Fine Books Collection
- "My passion for everything old, I inherited it from my mother, who had kept her caftans and those of her mother. After her death, I took over to keep this hidden treasure. The idea to show these caftans and these jewels to the general public began to germinate in my head and this is how the idea of the book imposed itself on me. The title of the book is Caftans and its Jewels - Collection of Lalla Chmicha. common thread, it's mom and at the same time, it's the transmission for future generations, explaining the vocabulary of fabrics or jewelry and showing how rich our Moroccan heritage and know-how are.
